Biography

Congresswoman Ayanna Pressley (MA-07) is an activist, legislator, survivor, and the first woman of color elected to Congress from Massachusetts. She has championed the principle that those closest to the pain should be closest to the power, working to inform and shape policymaking. She serves on the House Committees on Financial Services and Oversight and Accountability, where she advocates on issues including reproductive justice, workers’ rights, consumer protections, and support for survivors. Before Congress, she served eight years on the Boston City Council and was the first woman of color elected to the council in its 100-year history.
